Making a difference together in 2011
In 2011, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation provided $3.6 million in funding to 1058 local, grassroots environmental projects.
Our 2011 Year in Review highlights the diversity of initiatives funded by TD FEF and shows how – thanks to the incredible support of our donors and volunteers – TD FEF was able to help make a difference in communities across the country.
One hundred percent of every dollar donated to TD FEF goes directly towards supporting environmental and wildlife projects in the community where the donation was made. Some of these incredible programs include:
Bird Studies Canada - Medicine Hat, AB
TD FEF funding allowed Bird Studies Canada to further develop its ecological monitoring. By using remote audio recording units to collect bird survey data it was able to broaden opportunities for public participation in conservation-related activities.
Everdale Organic Farm & Environmental Learning Centre - Orangeville, ON
By using farm-based education as a platform for environmental education, Everdale's Discovery Farm allows students to escape from the classroom and make a physical connection to their food. TD FEF funding enabled Everdale to expand their youth outreach program, which now serves approximately 7,000 students annually.ies.
reachAbility Association - Halifax, NS
TD Friends of the Environment Foundation proudly supported the development of an accessible Community Garden. The garden provides an experiential learning opportunity on sustainability and local food production for reachAbility members, who participate in educational workshops and tend the harvest.
In 2011, TD FEF also supported several national environmental initiatives, including,
TD Green Streets and the TD FEF & Earth Day Canada Art Contest. .
