Students across Canada were invited to enter the TD FEF & Earth Day Canada Art Contest for a chance to have their artwork featured on a limited-edition TD FEF reusable bag or in Earth Day Canada’s 2012-13 EcoKids calendar!

S. Maltese, a Gr. 7 student from Thunder Bay, was our grand prize winner and:

  • She received a digital camera ; plus
  • Each student in her classroom received a litterless lunchbox;
  • AND:
  • Her school will get a $7,500 TD FEF grant for to support the development of an outdoor classroom or schoolyard naturalization project.

Be sure to visit your local TD Canada Trust branch this April to pick up a TD FEF reusable bag featuring this art.

Congratulations also to our nine secondary prize winners, who each received $25 cash and a Litterless lunchbox, while their schools will each receive a $500 grant– to support environmental education or sustainability projects.

Look for their artwork which may be featured in Earth Day Canada’s 2012-13 EcoKids calendar, which is to be distributed to schools across the country.

Grand-prize package

One (1) grand-prize winner will receive:
  • A $7,500 grant to the winner’s school to support the development of an outdoor classroom or schoolyard naturalization project.
  • A digital camera (ERV $200).
  • The winner’s artwork to appear on the limited-edition TD FEF bag.
  • A limited-edition TD FEF bag – featuring the winning artwork – for every child and teacher at the winner’s school.
  • A litterless lunch box for each student in the winner’s classroom.

Secondary prize packages

The nine (9) Secondary winners will each receive:
  • $500 for their school – to support environmental education or sustainability projects.
  • $25 cash.
  • A litterless lunch box.
  • The chance to have their artwork featured in Earth Day Canada’s 2012-13 EcoKids calendar, which is distributed to schools across the country.

To enter, students must:
  1. Create an original piece of art that addresses the theme “My favourite part of nature” (see “Guidelines” ); and
  2. Mail the original piece of art, along with the registration form, to:

To be eligible for the contest, artwork must be original and follow these guidelines:
  • Theme: “My favourite part of nature...”
  • Size/format: 8.5” x 11” piece of paper (two-dimension flat surface only).
  • Colours: At least two colours (black and white drawings will not be accepted).
  • Medium: Crayon, paint, coloured pencils, etc (or any combination).
  • Content: Images only, no words or phrases; and no content that is or could be considered inappropriate, unsuitable or offensive.

The contest opens September 19. The Submission deadline is October 14.
A panel of judges will select 10 semi-finalists and the public will choose the grand prize winner through an online vote.

Voting will be open from October 31 – November 11, 2011.
The grand-prize winner will be announced on November 16.
