TD Friends of the Environment Foundation is looking to fund environment and wildlife projects

Regina Chapter is calling on non-profit organizations and schools to apply

Regina, SK– October 29, 2009 – TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF), one of Canada’s longest-serving environmental charities, has funding available for environment and wildlife projects and is inviting non-profit organizations with a charitable registration number and schools in the Regina area to apply. Since 1990, TD FEF has provided nearly $300,000 in funding to local environment and wildlife projects. To apply for funding, visit www.tdfef.com.

"We’re a national organization with a grassroots focus, and our goal is to work with people who want to preserve and protect the environment in their own backyard," says Ellen Dungen, Regional Manager, TD Friends of the Environment Foundation. "Thanks to the financial support and active involvement of residents in the Regina area, we’ve been able to make a positive difference in the community for nearly 20 years by funding more than 135 local environment and wildlife projects."

Projects supported by TD FEF in the Regina area include:

  • A donation to Nature Saskatchewan for the Wings Over Wascana Nature Festival
  • A donation to the Nature Conservancy of Canada for the reprinting of a book titled "Old Man on His Back – Portrait of a Prairie Landscape." A portion of the books were provided to grade five and six students in Regina to help them learn about grassland conservation. The sales and royalties from the remaining books went towards protecting and preserving grassland habitat in Saskatchewan
  • A donation to University of Regina Students for Sustainability for the 2008 Student Summit for Sustainability conference, “Societies of Tomorrow,” held at the University of Regina.

"All of the money raised in Regina is spent locally, so donors can be sure that their contribution is supporting environment and wildlife projects in their own community," says Dungen.

The types of projects supported by TD FEF include (but are not limited to):

  • Wildlife rehabilitation
  • Education programs for children
  • Environmental cleanups
  • Tree planting campaigns
  • Conservation and recycling initiatives
  • Urban renewal

Non-profit organizations interested in submitting a request for financial support to TD Friends of the Environment Foundation should visit www.tdfef.com for more information. Funding applications are only accepted online.
